If the living skin is considerably over stretched by rapid weight gain or loss, ruptures can occur in the structure of the corium which becomes visible as pale stripes, so called “distension striae” commonly known as stretch marks. Women mostly get stretch marks after pregnancy or weight loss. The corium, which is a dense network of collagen fibers intermingled with elastin fibers, which allows the skin to stretch and return to normal. The cells which originate in the basal layer of the epidermis undergo step by step transformation, leading to the migration of cells from the basal layer of the epidermis to the surface, a process which takes over 30 days. This means that by applying rejuvenating oils blend over a period of time the growth of new cells can be influenced, which will ultimately replace the ruptured skin tissue and the stretch marks will eventually disappear. However the process is slow and takes a long time.
